The 38th Annual Empowering Womxn of Color Conference (EWOCC) was held in-person on March 11th, 2023.


Amir Khadar (They/Them) is a visual artist, designer, and educator from Minneapolis, working out of Philadelphia. Their artwork is intentionally positioned in social movement spaces, where it is central in creating visual language for liberatory initiatives and agendas around racial, gender, and climate justice. Amir’s illustrations and movement artwork are grounded through art’s ability to imagine alternate worlds and make liberation tangible.

Featured Speaker: Taina Asili

Taina Asili, this year’s EWOCC keynote speaker, is an acclaimed New York-based Puerto Rican singer, speaker, filmmaker and activist. She performs an energetic Afro-Latin fusion with lyrics that carry powerful vocals with a multi-genre fusion confidently weaving between salsa, rock, reggae, cumbia, reggaeton, and hip hop with multilingual songs that beat with the heart of social change. With energetic and infectious rhythms. Asili’s music urges people to get on their feet and dance to the rhythm of rebellion.

Taina’s music videos have premiered in Rolling Stones and Mic.com, and featured in Billboard Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Latina Magazine, receiving national acclaim. As a queer-identified artist, she has performed at San Francisco Pride, NYC Pride Rally and Human Rights Conference, and numerous LGBTQIA events throughout the nation.
